maybe you also need to train your son for respiratory strength.

having done that, maybe you can google companies that have good ties with the sherpa. i believe they are the mountain guides that can help your son.

For a sponsorship, he has to make A LOT of calls to different gear companies, they will often give their athletes their gear to use, and to businesses, they will give money some times. When i say a lot of calls, i mean in the area of 100 to 200 calls. not many companies will sponsor him, but some will give mabye 500 bucks, others may give in the range of thousands. If he is going with an expedition, i would recommend sending an application to Himalayan Experience. they run an expedition up the northeastern ridge in the spring season. they are run by Russel Brice, a legendary guide in the himalayans with an excelent reputation. PS the person with the top entry doesn't know what they are talking about, if your son trains like no other, well in advance, there is a fairly large chance that he will make it.

These days with so many people going up Mount Everest its not so appealing for companys to put up big dollars in cash. Many will give gear, with some sort of deal in which you promote their products or come back a give talks or slideshows. It seem to me you have to either be trying a new route up or some sort of promotional thing to get the attention and the sponspors. Clean up trip seem to make the news these days. Good Luck
